Aim High, Fly Soar—123 years Ilocos Sur National High School

Each and every single School Year our school celebrates the day that it was founded which is around the month of march. This year we celebrated our school's 123rd foundation day celebration on March 21 and I can tell it was a handful.

Each year all students of our school would practice dances for the annual field demo, and this year our grade level got American Pop Culture for Girls, and Mexico for the boys. Around early march we started to practice for the annual field demo performance which is also a competition. During practice it was pretty difficult to move around especially because It was so hot. But we were still able to push through.

During the actual day of our foundation day celebration we had a parade and after we got back in the school we stayed in the field to wait for our classmate who's the Queen for this year.

After which we then went back to our classroom to eat and we went to perform. During the performance I kind of enjoyed it given that I was with a lot of people and we all looked the same because of our wig and glasses.

After the performance we then went back to the classroom to eat our lunch while waiting for the results. By then we slept for a bit while waiting for the Battle of the Bands to start. While waiting I accidentally took a nap and my friends needed to wake me up.

During the event it was by far what I enjoyed the most during the celebration, during breaks when the next band would be getting ready they'd go around interviewing people and I myself almost got picked. Thankfully my friend saved me from embarrassing myself. But nevertheless I enjoyed the songs they played it impressed me how they were able to garner talent on a specific instrument. I most especially found the guitarist and drummers pretty impressive because how on earth did they become so good at playing a specific instrument.

The entire celebration was not just about celebrating the day that our school was founded, it's about celebrating the bonds that we've created and the memories that we will create while we go to this school. It represents how a single place can bring so many people together to celebrate the day it was founded, the day that it started to shape the best minds who would then lead us to a better and brighter future.

Not only a woman, I'm more than that

"You are only a woman. You have NO rights!", Only a woman?ONLY? This is the sad reality that most women still experience nowadays. Hurtful words that pierce through their hearts like it's made out of paper, disregarding any rights or proof of all of their efforts because they're 'only' a "powerless" gender seen to almost all. They're often taken advantage of because of everyone's thoughts that women are powerless and will never have enough courage to speak the truth; that's how some completely hideous people see women. They see them as toys and dolls that are made 'exclusively' for men and the society to play with. Do we really want to keep living in this harsh reality where women are seen as tools for pleasure? Thankfully there have been many laws implemented protecting the rights of women and protecting them against violence. Such as RA 8353 or The Anti-Rape Law of 1997 and RA 11313 or Safe Spaces Act. RA 8353 (The Ant...

Greenery for everybody

Greenery keeps the world pretty. As we approach the month of the environment, many activities and programs are to follow it. That's why as a student I wanted to do my part and contribute to the preservation of our green environment. Some things may seem small and simple at first but when we collect all of these tiny pieces and glue them together it can turn into something big. Exactly like turning off the lights when they're not in use, it does not only limit the use of electricity but also lessens the contribution of people to light pollution. Walking instead of riding motorcycles when the places you want to go to is close. Is a simple yet helpful thing for our environment, it does not only benefit you but also the people that surrounds you. Because it  helps you burn fat and also lessen the amount of air pollution released into the earth. Another way I helped in keeping our environment clean is by simply throwing trash in the right place. Because any trash that's just t...
